50cc Dirt Bike
As soon as your child is able to ride a bicycle without
training wheels he or she can start learning to ride a dirt bike. If you have
been looking for an entry-level dirt bike for your young rider, the 50cc dirt
bike will be a perfect choice.
Generally speaking, 50cc, two-stroke engines are the
smallest ones available in kids gas powered dirt bikes, so if your kid has
never ridden before and is between 5 – 8 years old then you should definitely
opt for this size.
RECOMMENDATION:
If you are new to dirt bikes and have ever wondered what
kind of dirt bike you should get for your kid then first you might want check
our parents’ guide to kids dirt bikes where we covered different types of dirt
bikes and outline things you should know before making a decision.
Which 50cc dirt bike to choose? We researched many dirt bikes
and found some branded bikes from Yamaha, KTM or Kawasaki. However, the price
of these 50cc dirt bikes was so high that the value-for-money ratio has been
simply too low. Why would you invest much a lot into an expensive 50cc dirt
bike just to find out that your kid has outgrown the bike within next couple of
months?
Instead, we recommend you to look at the entry level, 49cc
dirt bike named Coolster, which has been a number one choice for thousands of
customers worldwide looking for a quality, yet affordable starter 49cc / 50cc
dirt bike for their kids.
Coolster 50cc Dirt Bike and Spider 50cc Dirt Bike
Both the Coolster and Spider 50cc dirt bike for kids are
packed with safety features and it’s very easy to ride. Let’s take a quick look
at the most important features of this impressive kid’s dirt bike:
If you are looking for a starter bike which is not going to
ruin your budget, Coolster 50cc dirt bike is the excellent choice. Actually, we
liked this little youth dirt bike so much that we would even recommend it in
case you have been opting for a branded dirt bike from one of the well-known
manufacturers.
Coolster dirt bikes may not be in the same league as Yamaha
or KTM but for that money, the value is simply amazing. After all, you can
always invest into another, larger dirt bike when your kid grows up and needs a
larger model to continue their motocross adventure.
50cc dirt bike – gas – Coolster is powered by the 49cc
single cylinder, two-stroke engine which is cooled by air. Thanks to this, the
cute 49cc dirt bike does exactly what it needs to do: it runs smoothly and tops
out around 30 to 35 miles per hour. This is just enough to race around the
neighborhood but at the same time it is slow enough for you to not have to
chase your kids down with your own motorcycle. It is an optimal
performance-to-safety ratio.
50cc dirt bike – This particular 50cc dirt bike features an
automatic centrifugal clutch gearbox with the trouble-free chain drive. The
automatic transmission means that there is no shifting needed at all. This is
good for kids as they don’t have to think about changing gears and can focus on
the steering and control.
50cc dirt bike - Size & Weight - The new Coolster dirtbikes are also light, it only weighs 50 pounds. With the 22 inch seat height this

As for the load capacity, the dirt bike is capable of carrying up to 145LBS.
50cc dirt bike - Frame & Suspension – It’s really hard
to believe that for such a low price, the manufacturer has been able to offer a
dirt bike that features a tough welded steel frame, steel rims and the full
front and rear suspension. It’s a true miniature dirt bike – the scaled down
version of the regular adult dirt bike! It even has disc brakes on both front
and rear to keep the rider in control in the tight turns! For the price of just
little over $300, it’s an amazing value for money. Hats off to Coolster!
The reviewed 50cc dirt bike comes in a variety of different
colors. While the color is not that critical feature, it’s good to have a choice.
There’s even pink one so if you’re about to buy a dirt bike for your little
princess then you may want to consider it.
70cc Dirt Bike
For those in the know, if you’re looking for a fast, fun and
exhilarating way to entertain your teens and pre-teens, there’s hardly a better
option than a dirt bike. But for those of us who’ve only seen their speed and,
dare I say, scariness on display during the X Games and other such high-flying
events, there’s a lot to understand.
First of all, there are a variety of different kinds of
youth dirt bikes with a handful of different speeds, stylings and safety
features. For example, the 70cc, gas-powered dirt bikes – of which we’ll be
reviewing later on – are a few miles-per-hour faster than their 50cc,
gas-powered siblings — and quite a bit slower than those seen used in
professional events – which puts them in an ideal range for younger riders who
want to go fast but require the time, practice and patience to get the hang of
things first.
Dirt Bike 70cc
How fast is a 70cc dirt bike, exactly? Well, that depends on
a lot of different factors – body type, engine type, components, size, shape,
etc. Suffice it to say though, they typically max out between 35 and just under
50 miles per hour – though slower models are available, like the very
affordable Monster Motto MM-B80, found in the four spot at the end of our
reviews.
What sets them apart as well is whether they offer an
automatic or a semi-automatic gearbox. As the name suggests, automatics do all
the gear shifting while semi-automatics require a little extra effort to get
things up to speed.
Another popular option for dirt bike buying is to go
all-electric. The problem here though is that, while electric dirt bikes are
much easier to maintain, and much quieter, they hardly offer the same,
professional-style experience than their gas powered compadres. They don’t
growl. They hardly rev. They don’t last as long. And they’re often slower.
Not only that, but without oil or gas or anything else found
in non-electric engines, there aren’t as many opportunities to teach your young
ones about maintenance, upkeep and the realities of true responsibility.
(Something that will pay dividends when they own their own car.)

The SSR 70cc Dirt Bike
70cc dirt bike - SSR Motorsports SR70C Pit Bike
SSR 70c bike
What with its array of available features and reliable
four-stroke, single-cylinder 72cc engine, capable of up to nearly 40 miles per
hour, there’s really no better place to start than with the SSR 70cc dirt bike
as it offers many of the same specifications as the other dirt bikes on this
list, and all at a similar yet reasonable price.
Its solid steel frame, front and rear disc brakes, oversized
mono rear shock and hydraulic front fork suspension system amounts to a smooth
and sturdy ride for the not-so-experienced – over 12 years old – and long-time
rough riders.
A kick start and semi-automatic gearbox with manual foot
shifter means it’s easy to start and simple – but not too simple – to use.
Great long term investment, as it’s easy to maintain and easy to repair. Not
for sale in the state of California.
The Coolster 70cc Dirt Bike
Topping out at just under 35 miles per hour, the Coolster
70cc isn’t the fastest bike on this list, but with an air-cooled, four-stroke,
single-cylinder engine, it more than makes up for it in overall power and
acceleration.
And, no worries, for those on edge about revving up a little
too quickly or getting out of control, there’s no need to worry as it comes
with an array of different safety features, including large disc brakes for
easy slowdowns and quick stops, dual inverted hydraulic front and strong rear
shock suspensions for smoother riding and larger tires for improved handling.

right at your fingertips just in case your young one gets into some serious
trouble – or just needs an easy way to shut it off. The engine is also built
based on Honda technology for heightened performance. For road-ready riders up
to 120 pounds. Not for sale in the state of California.
Beginners beware. These 125cc dirt bike reviews are not for
you. If you have a young one with little-to-no experience riding dirt bikes of
any kind, proceed with caution. (Or see our review of 70cc bikes or 50cc Dirt
Bikes instead.)
If, however, you’re the proud parent of an experienced speed
demon, someone who’s shown that they’re responsible on a high-powered,
motorized vehicle – preferably a teenager – or if you’re a young adult looking
to kick up some dirt and give it a whirl, you’re in the right place.
Amateur Awesomeness
Dirt bikes alone are a great stepping stone between the
early wind-whipping thrills of bike riding and the eventual excitement of
driving a car, but when you’re talking 125ccs of pure, adrenaline-pumping
power, you’re talking the best of both worlds.125cc Dirt Bike 6
Capable of topping out at nearly 65 miles per hour, these
bikes offer the ability for somewhat experienced amateurs and well-seasoned
riders to drive like the pros across dirt, through mud or even attack asphalt
on the wide open road.

The Apollo Dirt Bike 125cc pit bikes
For anyone worried about being too big for dirt bikes, the
Apollo Dirt Bike 125cc is just the size you’ll need, as it comfortably
accommodates 5’8 females and six-foot males. And, with a maximum speed of just
under 56 miles per hour, powered by 8.2 horses thanks to its four-stroke,
single-cylinder engine, you know you’ll be more than satisfied with its power
and speed – though, if you’re too big or too tall, that number next to the
miles per hour will likely shrink a little bit.
Comes in black and white, has a manual clutch – so, again,
it’s not for early riders – and starts with a simple kick.
Safety features are standard, front and rear disc brakes,
controlled by the hand and the foot respectively, and comes with a rather hefty
3.5 liter tank. This cool 125cc dirt bike is for riders under 220 pounds. Some
assembly is required.
The SSR Motorsports ssr 125 SR125 Pit Bike Review
Built around a solid steel back bone, the SSR Motorsport
SR125 is a 4 stroke, single-cylinder speedster capable of maximum speeds of up
to 55 miles per hour – depending on the weight and size of the rider.
A kick start means it’s easy to get going and a 4-up manual
transmission, shifted by a foot clutch, means it isn’t exactly for the
uninitiated – as shifting can be tricky for those who’ve never done it before.
Though, for the less experienced, its front and rear disc brakes, 275mm shock
rear and conventional hydraulic front suspension systems help smooth things out
and allows you to stop, when required, if you should get into any sticky
situations.
At a max 8.5 horsepower, capable of 7,500 rpms, this smart
125cc dirt bike has plenty of power. Contains a not-so-respectable 0.8 gallon
tank – which, positively speaking, means there’s less weight for a faster
rider. Comes available in a wide array of colors – including black, white,
green, blue, red and orange. Comes (mostly) pre-assembled.
The Coolster 125cc Dirt Bike
With its sleek style and speedy design, the Coolster 125cc
pit bike more than lives up to its name. In fact, its 4-stroke, air-cooled
engine is an award winner. (Though a manual clutch means it’s only for those
who’re mechanically inclined and know how to manually shift their way out of
trouble.)
40 miles per hour maximum speed means it isn’t the fastest
dirt bike available, but its reinforced fork tubing and stiffer-than-average
heavy duty springs means it can take a beating, time and time again, and keep
on spinning, across various terrain.
Safety specifications include a kick start for easing
beginnings, front and rear disc brakes for easy stoppage and a custom, tail
gripper seat which makes for a less than bumpy ride – if you’re into that kind
of thing. SSR 125
It can hold up to 200 pounds – though the lighter the driver
the faster you’ll go – and, for the handy and the brave, its already impressive
exhaust can be upgraded with a few twists of the screwdriver, a few turns of a
good wrench and some base knowledge of mechanics. Comes (mostly) preassembled.
